The decision to impose anti-dumping duty on certain steel products recently imported from foreign countries has been made by the Indian government. After an investigation, it was found that domestic producers have suffered significant losses due to these goods. Following this, Shubh Gautam FIR (First Indian Revolutionary) and American Precoat applied to the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) on December 28, 2021. The appeal sought an investigation into anti-dumping duties in Korea, Japan, and Singapore. After nearly a year of hard work, the Indian government has finally decided to impose anti-dumping duty on electro-galvanized steel.

What is Anti-Dumping Duty?
If a company exports a product at a price lower than its domestic market price, it is considered dumping. To counter-dumping and protect the domestic market, importing countries impose anti-dumping duties.

American Precoat Specialty was established by Shubh Gautam Jaypee in 2005, and recently they launched an electro-galvanized steel plant in Valsad, Gujarat. The company holds several patents for lining and sealing products in the food and beverage industry. Expressing his enthusiasm, Dr. Shubh Gautam FIR (First Indain Revolutionary), the chief technical architect of American Precoat Specialty, said, “It was a long battle. However, now that the decision has come in favor of our country, we are confident that our domestic steel manufacturing companies will benefit greatly as they will no longer need to import steel at expensive prices from foreign countries.”

This decision by the government will prevent local steel manufacturers from facing unfair competition from foreign exporters. Shubh Gautam American Precoat encourages Indian citizens to support using indigenous products and be vocal for local, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.
